You are required to keep a portfolio of evidence of your ongoing professional development and reflective practice during Early Professional Development (EPD) which should include 2 Professional Development Activities.
These requirements are further explained below in the Teacher Education Partnership Handbook Section 5.
Teacher Education Partnership Handbook (DE, August 2010)
EPD Portfolio
The portfolio may be compiled in either ‘Word’ format for printing and presentation in a lever arch file or in e-portfolio format using the PebblePad e-portfolio system. If you used the e-portfolio system during Induction then you should aim to continue doing so for EPD so that your career progression can be recorded in the same place over time. Usernames and Passwords issued during Teacher Training in Northern Ireland or during the Induction stage will remain the same for EPD.

Log onto Pebblepad and from your home page, go to the ‘View Gateways’ option on the view pebble and click on Induction/EPD Gateway to access the EPD e-portfolio framework.
It is your responsibility to maintain the portfolio and it should be referred to in discussions with your Teacher Tutor and Principal who will wish to view it at key stages in the EPD process such as during the Quality Assurance of the PDAs and at the end of EPD 1 and EPD 2.
EPD Professional Development Activity
You are required to complete 2 Professional Development Activities (PDAs), one in EPD 1 and the second in EPD 2.
The PDAs are designed to focus your attention on the impact of your teaching on pupil learning and achievement by engaging you in a process of planning, teaching, reviewing and reflecting. Your summative report on Induction will have highlighted potential areas for further professional development during EPD. This should be referred to when discussing a possible focus for your PDAs with your Teacher Tutor.

It is a vital part of the PDA process that you are observed teaching by your Teacher Tutor, Key Stage Coordinator, Head of Department or Principal, as appropriate. This will help highlight areas of strength and areas for further development during the next stage in the teacher education continuum (EPD 2 or PRSD). Your PDAs should be included as core evidence of your reflective practice in your EPD portfolio.
