Classroom assistance is normally only available after a Statutory Assessment and if mention of this provision is included in the Statement.

What if I am not happy with arrangements to meet my child’s special educational needs?
If you look over this web-site you will find lots of advice at various stages of the Code of Practice in the event that you are unhappy. You should remember that the majority of children make satisfactory progress when extra help is in place to assist them. However, if you are concerned that this is not the case then you should first discuss your worries with the school principal/class teacher or SENCO.

Can I bring a friend with me to any meeting?
There will not usually be a problem with bringing a friend along for support but you should let the organizer of the meeting know in advance.
